Thank you Mayor Ken Sim for having the courage to begin to try to fix the failed Vancouver park board. It’s shameful what over-bureaucracy has done to what once was a beautiful city to be proud of.

Premier Eby is overreaching

We are allowed to wonder what is happening inside our premier’s head.

His recent decision to adopt and implement what best could be described as sardine-can zoning, in response to Prime Minister Trudeau’s unco-ordinated immigration/housing policies, is beyond bizarre.

While we can all appreciate the supply and cost of housing is out of control, it doesn’t give Premier Eby the right to arbitrarily decide what we can do with our land that we own fee simple, let alone overrule and rewrite our official community plans.

“Ruling” that municipalities across B.C. automatically must allow four units on land that’s about 3,000 square feet, and six units if it’s also near transit is incomprehensible.

Like all other politicians, Eby is a democratically elected public trustee, and has absolutely no mandate to make any decisions regarding land use.

He is the premier of our province, elected to serve and protect our rights and our properties. Nothing more — nothing less.

Provincial hypocrisy displayed

Re: Provincial outsourcing under scrutiny.

How is it that the government spends hundreds of thousands of dollars to shut down Brian Day’s Cambie Medical Centre concerning B.C. residents accessing private-pay medical services locally?

They will, however, use the general purse to pay for B.C. residents to get private medical services south of the border.
